Local government data migration for the pool safety register Print E-mail

A state-based pool safety register has been developed under Queensland's swimming pool safety laws. To help initially populate the register, each local government is required to give the department notice of all existing regulated pools in its area that it has a record of.

The data must be provided in the way approved by the department by using the bulk migration sheet template (Excel 21 KB).

The notice is to be given within three months of commencement of section 246AQ of the Building and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2010, which commenced on 5 November 2010.

Local governments are encouraged to provide regulated pools data as soon as possible to assist in timely completion of data migration.

Information on the property data bulk migration spreadsheet template

  • To assist data migration, local governments must use the headings in the spreadsheet template. The column headings are aligned with the configuration for the register.
  • Only a yes / no response is required for columns for ‘alternative solutions’ and ‘disability exemptions’. Further information for these two fields can be entered once the register goes live.
  • Once the register goes live, local governments will be provided with secure log-in capacity to amend property and pool data on the register. The general public will have read-only access to the register.

Address validation

Local governments can provide non-validated address data on the bulk migration spreadsheet template. Addresses that are not validated will be passed back to local governments for correction and resubmission to the department, and will then be revalidated.
